Trevis M. Rouser Memorial CommunityGardens @ Berston  June 25th, 2016 Flint, Michigan

Thanks to the generous donations of Florida Bob, owner of the Sweet Leaf, Flint, Michigan , Walker Farms & Greenhouse, Berston Bike Club president Ms. Angela Stamps & the Marshall Family Foundation and City Councilman Dr. Nolden, we got the supplies to build a Memorial Garden in remembrance of  Mr. Trevis M. Rouser (August 7th, 1968 to July 28th, 2012). Trevis loved basketball and volunteered to coach many area youth in basketball leagues. Trevis owned several businesses in the Flint area and was known by many for his good heart & his ability to debate & argue any topic, at any time! Lol

Trevis  passed on from this life while playing basketball at Berston in 2012. In remembrance of him, this Memorial Gardens was created by family & friends for us to beautify the place he left us doing what he’s loved since his childhood.  The 1st part of the Trevis M. Rouser Memorial Garden will be made in the image of a basketball court to remember Trevis, a great son, family member, relative and friend.  We will add on to it at a later time.

Another positive purpose of this garden is to raise awareness among the youth of the benefits of eating properly & being Health Conscious. Trevis was able to prolong his life through eating healthy. Ms. Stamps want to teach a class to area youth on Gardening & how to eat right. We are trying to secure a room or building to offer this class to Flint area children this summer.  Through this garden project, Delmond Marshall has been volunteering his time to various Stop the Violence & Stop Gang Violence in surrounding counties, and he's working to establish a Scared Straight program for area Flint teens.  Several former Flint Northwestern alums that are now distinguished Police Officers & state & federal Probation officials in various jurisdictions, has agreed to work with the Marshall Family Foundation to establish an outreach group in Flint, Michigan to serve as a meeting place for Flint residents & youth to build valuable ties with Flint city officials to help curb crime & to help promote youth peace, positive interactions city wide. We hope to provide mentoring programs, teaching young men & women how to garden. The objective of this post will be to educate our youth in a positive way, to promote law abiding behavior among our youth in the community and save lives.

Our Next Project: Our next  gardening project we’d like to work with the Flint Landbank and get a city property to build a garden in Flint as a memorial to all of the Flint residents that has lost a loved one to gang violence and/or domestic violence.
